Granny Square Class
Sundays: October 23 and 30, 2016
1:00 – 4:00 pm at INUA Wool Shoppe
Cost: $40 plus materials
Instructor: Anne M. Castle
Limited to 6 - 10 students
Granny squares are square motifs crocheted in rounds working from the center outwards. The traditional one is a double-crocheted square made with a series of chains and double-crocheted blocks. Although particular color and pattern schemes for granny squares change with time, this class of motif is a staple among crocheters. Multicolor granny squares are an effective way to use up small amounts of yarn left over from other projects and basic granny square motifs do not require advanced skills to execute.
Learn how to make a traditional granny square and then a Slouchy Granny Square Hat.
In the first class you will learn how to make a traditional granny square and begin the granny squares for the hat. In the second class you will learn to assemble the squares and finish the hat.
For Class bring:
· Worsted weight yarn scraps for the traditional granny square
· Bulky weight yarn (at least two colors) for the hat
· Crochet hooks, range of sizes H through M (depending on desired tension)
· Glasses, if needed
· A pen and notebook, optional
Basic crochet knowledge required – need to know how to chain, single and double crochet and slip stitch. Bring a willingness to learn. Ability to read English is helpful.
