Class Cost $40.00

A triangular shawl, the Springtime Bandit is the perfect mix of vintage inspiration combined with a slightly rustic look and modern styling. This shawl is a beautiful addition to any wardrobe, and is just the right accessory to have on hand during the unpredictable change of seasons.

This class is perfect for someone who has always admired the triangle lace shawls that are ever so popular now, but are hesitant to jump head first. This is a great beginner shawl class that will tackle shawl structure, chart reading, provisional cast on as well as other techniques necessary to attempt more difficult lace shawls.

Materials Needed:

  • Springtime Bandit pattern must be downloaded before class. The pattern can be found for free at http://kelbournewoolens.com/springtimebandit.html
  • One 32” circular needles in sizes US8
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Stitch Markers
  • 1 yard of waste yarn of comparable size & crochet hook to match
  • Approximately 200g of a worsted weight wool yarn (~ 400 yards)

Yarn Recommendations:

  • Malabrigo Worsted
  • The Fibre Company Terra
  • Shibui Alpaca DK
  • Cascade Ultra Pima

We recommend a solid color yarn, which makes your design easier to see. A lighter color also makes the stitches easy on your eyes, so try to avoid dark/black colors.

Skill Level Required: Beginning/Intermediate

Students should be comfortable with the following techniques:

  • knit and purl stitches
  • intermediate lace comprehension
  • basic understanding of increasing & decreasing (yarn over, ssk, & k2tog)
  • basic understanding of chart reading and following symbols
